OPTIFAST products are of exceptional nutritional quality. Its development and manufacturing standards are amongst the highest in the industry. The Nestle Nutrition Quality program provides reassurance that the products are high quality and safe for consumption. This certification is similar to that which is used in pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Optifast Meal Replacement products are protein-rich, low-carb healthy choices. They include shakes, nutrition bars, and soups. They provide a precise ratio of high quality protein, carbohydrates, and essential fatty acids to stimulate weight loss while curbing appetite and protecting against muscle
weight loss.

People following the full meal replacement program replace all of the conventional foods they would-typically eat with OPTIFAST specialized weight loss products for 12 weeks. They typically consume 800-1120 calories per day. Weight loss averages around 3 pounds a week for females and up to 5 pounds a week for males. During this phase patients will meet with Dr. Borghini weekly. As a result of weightloss many patients require reducing, and in some cases eliminating some of their medications, such as diabetes and blood pressure medicines.

While visiting the clinic, you will participate in group and individual lifestyle education classes. These classes are taught by our team of weight loss specialist (dietician, health coach and fitness specialist, and Physician assistant).

Following the first 12 weeks, participants enter into the transition phase. During this phase conventional food is gradually added. This phase typically lasts 6 weeks. People continue to lose weight during this phase. Some people chose to continue using 1-2 meal replacement products for longer periods of time.

Dr. Borghini will help you choose the right combination of low-calorie foods, shakes, soups, and/or bars.
